Anarchists Brunch – Drama

by on September 6, 2015

There has been something missing from this Cubs chase for a playoff spot (if we’re even allowed to call it a chase anymore). An eight-game lead with just 28 games to go means if the Cubs merely went 10-18 the Giants would have to go 18-12 to catch them, or basically play .600 ball for the rest of the season. They don’t exactly look like a team capable of that, and the Cubs don’t look like one that’s going to play .400 either. So it’s all led to a lack of drama.

It’s not all on the Cubs of course, Yes, they’ve been better than most expected. But the Nationals have been far worse than expected, and the Giants have been more hurt than anyone expected (and really not as good, though where people thought they were going with that rotation…). There haven’t been any chasers in the other divisions.
